Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 fat content)
  • 4 slices smoky turkey bacon
  • 4 slices plant-based cheese
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 4 slider buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Burger Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (natural)

Optional Variations and Garnishes

  • Sliced jalapeños or hot sauce for spicy boost
  • Fresh avocado slices
  • Caramelized onions (replace raw onions)
  • Natural barbecue sauce (replace ketchup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Shape each portion loosely into a ball without compressing it tightly to maintain tenderness after smashing.
  2. Heat Your Cooking Surface: Preheat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan on medium-high heat until nearly smoking to achieve a crispy crust.
  3. Smash and Season: Place each beef ball onto the hot pan and press down firmly with a spatula to flatten as much as possible. Cook for 2-3 minutes without moving, then flip. Season the exposed side with salt, pepper, and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural).
  4. Add Smoky Turkey Bacon and Cheese: While the second side cooks, crisp turkey bacon in a separate pan or under the broiler. Add plant-based cheese on the patties after flipping to allow slight melting before removing from the heat.
  5. Toast Buns and Assemble: Lightly toast slider buns in the pan to soak up some burger flavors and add crunch. Assemble the burger by layering lettuce, tomato, crispy turkey bacon, melted cheese, and the smoky beef patty. Finish with your preferred natural condiments.

Notes

  • Use a heavy pan like cast-iron or stainless steel for better sear and heat retention.
  • Press the patty only once to maintain juiciness.
  • Let patties rest for a minute after cooking to maximize juiciness.
  • Make patties thin; flavor comes from crisp edges and tender inside.
  • Toast buns last for a fresh and flavor-packed crunch.
