Description

Hamburger Steaks in Creamy Dill Sauce combines juicy ground beef hamburger steaks with smoky turkey bacon, served in a rich and silky plant-based cream sauce infused with fresh dill. This comforting and hearty dish offers a perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and herbal flavors, making it an ideal meal for a casual family dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hamburger Steaks

  • 1 lb ground beef (moderate fat content)
  • 2 slices smoked turkey bacon, diced
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Creamy Dill Sauce

  • 1/2 cup plant-based cream
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp natural gelling agent
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, diced smoked turkey bacon, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined to maintain tenderness.
  2. Shape and Sear the Steaks: Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval hamburger steaks. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks on both sides until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Creamy Dill Sauce: Using the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add a splash of olive oil if needed and sauté additional onion and garlic until soft. Stir in plant-based cream, apple cider vinegar, fresh chopped dill, and natural gelling agent. Allow the sauce to simmer gently while stirring until it thickens.
  4. Combine and Finish Cooking: Return the seared hamburger steaks to the skillet with the sauce. Spoon sauce over each steak, cover, and cook for a few more minutes so flavors meld and steaks cook through.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to keep steaks tender and juicy.
  • Use fresh dill for optimal flavor and vibrancy.
  • Sear steaks at high heat to create a crust that seals in juices.
  • Simmer sauce gently to avoid curdling.
  • Let steaks rest a couple of minutes after cooking to redistribute juices.
