  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

Crispy, sweet Authentic Churros with a golden cinnamon sugar coating paired with a fluffy plant-based dipping sauce (natural). Perfect for a cozy treat or impressing guests with classic street food flavors right at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour blend

Frying

  • Vegetable oil (for frying, amount as needed)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (natural)

Fluffy Plant-Based Dipping Sauce (Natural)

  • 1 cup plant-based milk (natural)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (natural)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Preparing the Dough: Bring water, plant-based butter (natural), and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the flour all at once. Mix vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides.
  2. Shaping the Churros: Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a large star-shaped nozzle. Pipe 4-inch strips of dough onto parchment paper or a baking tray.
  3. Frying the Churros: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry churro strips in batches until golden and crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Coating the Churros: Toss the warm churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly while they are still hot.
  5. Making the Fluffy Plant-Based Dipping Sauce (Natural): In a small saucepan, combine plant-based milk (natural), powdered sugar (natural), vanilla extract (natural), and natural gelling agent. Heat gently, stirring constantly until thickened and fluffy. Chill slightly before serving alongside churros.

Notes

  • Maintain oil temperature at 350°F (175°C) for even frying and to avoid greasy churros.
  • Use a large star nozzle for classic ridged texture.
  • Fry churros in small batches to keep oil temperature steady.
  • Coat churros immediately after frying so cinnamon sugar adheres well.
  • Stir dipping sauce continuously while heating to prevent lumps and activate the natural gelling agent.
