Description

These easy salmon patties are a quick, flavorful, and healthy meal option made with fresh salmon fillets, fresh herbs, and a natural gelling agent to hold them together. Crispy on the outside and tender inside, they are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and loved by both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Fresh salmon fillets – 1 pound
  • Onion, finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Green bell pepper, finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Egg substitute – 1/4 cup
  • Breadcrumbs – 3/4 cup
  • Fresh parsley, chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Lemon zest and juice (natural) – 1 tablespoon zest, 2 tablespoons juice
  • Natural gelling agent – 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked turkey bacon, chopped (optional) – 2 slices
  • Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) – 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt (natural) – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper (natural) – 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Start by poaching or steaming the salmon fillets until just cooked through. Allow them to cool slightly, then flake the fish into bite-sized pieces, making sure to remove any bones for a smooth texture.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the flaked salmon, finely chopped onion, green bell pepper, fresh parsley, lemon zest and juice (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and smoked turkey bacon if using. Add the egg substitute and breadcrumbs, then sprinkle the natural gelling agent evenly over the mix.
  3. Form Patties: Using your hands, gently combine all ingredients until well incorporated. Form the mixture into evenly sized patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, ensuring they hold together tightly.
  4. Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp on the outside while remaining tender inside.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from heat and let the salmon patties rest for a minute before serving. This helps them firm up just a little and ensures maximum flavor with every bite.

Notes

  • Use fresh salmon fillets for the best texture.
  • Do not overmix ingredients to avoid dense patties.
  • Tilt the skillet occasionally for even frying and to prevent sogginess.
  • Adjust breadcrumbs depending on the moisture in the salmon to get the perfect binding.
  • Chill shaped patties for 15 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
