Description

Cozy up with delightful Hot Chocolate Bombs that create a rich, plant-based chocolate drink when melted in hot water or plant-based milk. These easy-to-make cocoa spheres are customizable, fun to watch, and perfect for gifting or treating yourself on chilly days.

Ingredients

Chocolate Shell

  • Good quality dairy-free chocolate bars or chips (amount as needed)

Filling

  • Plant-based milk powder (1 cup)
  • Natural cocoa powder (1/4 cup)
  • Natural sweetener powder (such as maple syrup powder or coconut sugar powder) (2 tablespoons)
  • Mini plant-based marshmallows (1/2 cup)
  • Natural gelling agent (optional, 1 teaspoon)

Optional Variations

  • Cinnamon or chili powder (pinch)
  • Finely chopped toasted nuts (2 tablespoons)
  • Crushed plant-based cookie crumbs (2 tablespoons)
  • Freeze-dried berry pieces or grape juice powder (1 tablespoon)
  • Instant coffee powder (1 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Chocolate Shells: Gently melt the dairy-free chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring often to prevent burning. Using a silicone sphere mold, coat each cavity with a thin, even layer of melted chocolate. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, then apply a second layer for strength. After chilling again, carefully unmold the hardened chocolate shells.
  2. Fill the Bombs with Goodies: In a bowl, mix plant-based milk powder, natural cocoa powder, and sweetener powder. Spoon generous amounts of this mixture into each half-shell. Add mini plant-based marshmallows or your preferred fillings, ensuring not to overfill to allow proper sealing.
  3. Seal the Bombs: Melt a small amount of chocolate to use as glue. Apply it along the edge of one half-shell, then press the other half firmly on top. Place the sealed bombs in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes until fully set.
  4. Decorate and Enjoy: Drizzle melted chocolate, add sprinkles, or dust with cocoa powder on the outside of your bombs for an attractive finish. Your Hot Chocolate Bombs are ready to warm your soul with every cup!

Notes

  • Use tempered chocolate for a shiny finish and shells that do not melt easily at room temperature.
  • Keep the filling powders dry to prevent shells from softening prematurely.
  • Choose quality silicone molds for easy release and smooth, perfect spheres.
  • Work efficiently but carefully; chocolate sets quickly during coating and sealing.
  • Store finished bombs in an airtight container in a cool place to preserve shape and flavor.
